NM natives earn All-American honors at NCAA's

photoCollege Station, TX -  Four New Mexico natives garnered  All-American honors this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

 

Two Lobos, Gabe Aragon (Valley High)  and Deanna Young (Highland High) achieved the recognition in their respective events. Gabe made First Team All-American, along with three lobo teammates, with a sixth place finish(9:31.50) in the Distance Medley. The 4000m medley consists of 1200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m legs. Gabe ran the 800 leg with a 1:51.47 split. Lobo teammate Deanna Young earned Second Team status with an eleventh place triple jump of 41'11 1/4" .

Abuquerque Academy had some things to cheer about as two alumni, Lyndsay Harper of Virginia and Curtis Beach from Duke both earned All-American honors. Curtis Beach won the 1000 meters to score 5637 total points in the Heptathlon. Beach placed thirteenth in the event overall to earn Second Team honors. Virginia's Lyndsay Harper ran an 800m split time of 2:06 in the Distance Medley, pacing her relay to a third place podium finish and First Team All--American honors.
